Mineralisation types Gold occurs in a wide range of mineralisation types, classified as follows: Magmatic mineralisations Porphyry copper type deposits and mineralisations (photo right) with (sub-) economic gold grades (up to 6.5 ppm), of which neighbouring concessions are state-owned. The photo shows porphyry-style copper mineralisation in schist; malachite as oxidised copper sulphide disseminations, fractures and veinlets. Location: Chalkidiki Hypothermal mineralisations Vein-hosted, arsenopyrite-galena-quartz-sericite mineralisation with gold up to 54 ppm (photos right). The arsenopyrite-quartz veins were probably part of the raw material that the ancient Greeks mined for extracting gold. Location: Chalkidiki |
